The Illinois Sheriffs' Association said Tuesday that some violent felons who had faced deportation are instead being released into local communities after their prison terms end as a result of a policy change by Gov. J.B. Pritzker's administration.

Sheriffs Mike Downey of Kankakee County and Tony Childress of Livingston County, representing the statewide law enforcement group, told reporters at the state Capitol that the Illinois Department of Corrections has stopped coordinating the transfer to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of released inmates who are in the country illegally. Downey said it's akin to giving the ex-inmates a “head start to evade federal law."

“It's alarming to think that because of a change in policy that suddenly these types of individuals might be walking the streets and we might not even be aware of it," said Sen. Jason Barickman of Bloomington, one of several GOP lawmakers to sign a letter seeking legislative hearings. “We're here to first of all call on the administration to reverse this reckless policy and ensure the public that they're safe.”

But an immigration expert said the practice violates the state Trust Act, the 2017 law that limits local law enforcement agencies' cooperation with federal immigration officials.

The sheriffs' concerns came just days after the Trump administration announced the unusual step of dispatching Customs and Border Patrol Agents to interior locales such as Chicago and other “sanctuary cities" which have set up impediments to customs enforcement.

Pritzker spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh called the policy switch a “pause” in Corrections' interactions with ICE while Pritzker's staff reviews it and other procedures.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo pardoned 18 illegal aliens who will now be able to remain in the United States and circumvent or defer deportation.

According to the New York Times, Cuomo pardoned the 18 illegal aliens to “free them from the threat of deportation or other immigration-related issues” with the governor even praising his decision in a Twitter post.

“While the federal government continues to target immigrants and threatens to tear families apart with deportation, these actions take a critical step toward a more just, more fair and more compassionate New York,” Cuomo said in the post, ignoring the impact illegal immigration has on America’s working and middle class.

Milwaukee radicals again set to celebrate illegal immigration, disrespect American sovereignty

If it's May Day in Milwaukee, then it must be time for another pro-amnesty march to remind residents that groups like Voces de la Frontera have no respect for the rule of law, American sovereignty and certainly not for the plight of jobless American workers whose search for a better life is made more difficult by illegal immigration.  FLUSHING, N.Y. — Qian Wu thought the man who brutally attacked her was gone forever.

She was sure that Huang Chen, a Chinese citizen who slipped into America on a ship and stayed in the country illegally, would be deported as soon as he got out of jail for choking, punching, and pointing a knife at her in 2006.
But China refused to take Chen back. So, after jailing Chen on and off for three years in Texas, immigration officials believed they were out of options and did what they have done with thousands of criminals like him.
They quietly let him go.
Nobody warned Wu, or prosecutors, or the public. The petite, 46-year-old woman learned Chen was still here when he stormed into her unlocked apartment one day in January 2010 and announced, “I bet you didn’t expect to see me.” Terrified, she called the police, and he fled. But for two weeks, Chen was free to stalk her and finally, to catch her as she hurried home with milk and bread one afternoon.
Chen then finished what he had started earlier, bashing Wu on the head with a hammer and slashing her with a knife. As she lay crumpled in a grimy stairwell, he ripped out her heart and a lung and fled with his macabre trophies.
