Rep. Mark Pocan's selective support for the 'law of the land'
By Dave Gorak, 11/11/2013
Don't you love the way many politicians paint themselves as guardians of truth, justice and the
American way when it serves their purposes but act just the opposite when anything threatens the
interests of those on whom they depend heavily for campaign contributions?
Take Rep. Mark Pocan's (D-2nd) defense of Obamacare during a Nov. 7 meeting in Baraboo, Wis., with business leaders and constituents.
"It (Affordable Care Act) was passed by Congress, signed by the president, and upheld by the Supreme Court, so it's the law of the land," Pocan said.
The law of the land. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? But Pocan sees things very differently when it comes to enforcing the nation's immigration laws that were created primarily to protect the public and American workers but have instead morphed into an engine that accounts for 82 percent of our population growth and has flattened wages for 30 years.
Parroting the Treason Lobby's mantra that our immigration system is "broken" and needs to be "fixed" by those who helped break it, Pocan is among those Democrats who support the House of Representative's amnesty bill (H.R. 15) that is a carbon copy of the Senate amnesty bill (S. 744). This bill issues work permits to nearly all 12 million illegal aliens living here and doubles annual legal immigration to 2 million people while 20 million American can't find full-time jobs. In the first 10 years of its passage, this bill would add 33 million foreign workers to our labor pool and keep unemployment high and wages low, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
Pocan also noted during the meeting that Obamacare should be tweaked "to make sure it works for everyone."
That also has a nice ring to it, but our present immigration policy isn't working for everyone because the only real beneficiaries of it are illegal aliens, their greedy employers and the many cowardly members of Congress who hide behind their American flag lapel pins while while mocking their oath of office.
Pocan opposes "gutting" Obamacare, but he has no problem with gutting the nation's ability to enforce it's immigration laws by supporting what would be the 8th amnesty since 1986. That is because this latest attempt to reward illegals for disrespecting American sovereignty offers nothing but promises of enforcement while guaranteeing only legalization and work permits immediately.
If Pocan and his ilk are successful in enacting the anti-American worker legislation they support, think about how that law of the land will affect your desecendants' future.
