Q & A with Rep. Mark Pocan ignores the real issues

Given the seriousness of the threat to the nation's sovereignty and rule of law posed by the federal government's irresponsible immigration policy, you would think that the Wisconsin State Journal's September 20 Q&A with U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-2nd) might have chosen far more serious issues to discuss than gay rights, Pocan's opinion of the GOP presidential candidates and why he moved to a rural area from Madison.

For years Americans have been inundated with never-ending detailed coverage of the gay rights movement; not so our immigration policy that among other things contributes to the deaths of innocent Americans and is projected to represent 80 percent of our already explosive population growth through 2060.

As for what Pocan thinks about a Republican's chances of winning the White House and why he moved -  who cares?

Pocan's record of supporting American workers is dismal, and now it is reported that his is among the 72 Democrats in Congress advocating that we take in 100,000 "Syrian" refugees next year.   When such recommendations are made, is any consideration given to how the presence of these people will affect national security, not to mention the increased competition in a weak jobs market while 18 million Americans can't find full-time work?

During a trip to Washington, D.C. earlier this month, I met with a staffer for Sen. Tammy Baldwin, another Wisconsin Democrat who has abandoned jobless Americans.  I asked the staffer whether the senator was comfortable with our current vetting process and would it be capable of screening thousands more refugees. Without any hesitation the staffer said it would be no problem.

Should Americans believe such assurances given that the FBI is now saying just the opposite?

Fourteen years and 3,000 deaths later, Pocan and his Democratic ilk continue to approve of the federal government's rolling the dice when it comes to fulfilling its primary responsibility to protect the American people.
