July Fourth 2015: Why bother celebrating?

On the eve of this nation's 239th birthday, we should be asking ourselves just what it is we're supposed to be celebrating.

In terms of our immigration policy, we can forget about our right to self-determination, our sovereignty and most importantly, the rule of law.

It's been 20 years since the death of Barbara Jordan, who chaired President Clinton's immigration reform commission that under her leadership made a number of recommendations that, had they been adopted, most likely would have prevented today's federally created immigration crisis.  In terms so simple that even members of Congress could understand them, Ms. Jordan argued that our immigration policy should put the "national interest first, last and always."  Such a "credible" immigration policy included deporting people who had no right to be here.

With very few exceptions, including the heroic Sen. Jeff Sessions, nobody in our morally corrupt government thinks in those terms. What we have instead is a government made up of "Americans" who don't like their own country, including another Democratic President that has put the icing on the cake created by Mr. Clinton.  Using his telephone and pencil, President Obama has virtually ended all enforcement of our immigration laws created to protect Americans and their jobs.

In Obama's world, these actions fall into the categories of "better use of our resources" and being "the right thing to do."

To be sure, the Republican Party shares the blame for the ongoing dismantling of the basic principles on which this nation was founded, thanks to its decades-long support for increasing legal immigration in order to satisfy the business community craving for cheap labor and, most recently, lying through its teeth when it promised to fight "tooth and nail" Mr. Obama's lawless amnesty for nearly 5 million illegal aliens that includes work permits and Social Security Numbers.

There is no shortage of examples to support the tragic fact that Jordan's dream of an immigration policy that put the interests of ordinary Americans before those of others is in a shambles.  While 18 million Americans are unable to find full-time work and 7 million illegal aliens remain safe in their non-farming payroll jobs, we are seeing troubling news stories noting that:

Happy Birthday, America?
