Gang of Eight amnesty: 33 million work permits for foreigners

Edit article

If Sen. Chuck Schumer and his Gang of Eightamigos are successful in passing their Border Security, Economic Opportunity andImmigration Modernization Act (S. 744), 33 million work permits would be issued to immigrants in just the first 10 years.

33 million. In 10 years.

So says NumbersUSA, the 1.8-million member grassroots immigration reduction group in Arlington, VA, that keeps tabs on those "lawmakers" we've sent to Washington to represent us.

And you thought Schumer & Friends were interested in simply putting 11 million illegals already here on a path to citizenship, didn't you?

NumbersUSA arrived at the 33 million figure by adding the work permits that would be given to the 11 million illegals plus those given to another 22 million people as a result of doubling our annual legal immigration rate to 2 million people.

How dramatic would this decadal immigrant influx be in historic terms? Consider this:

During the years 1790-1990, about 3 million people arrived here every decade; during the 1950s/1960s, fewer than 3 million; and since 1990, 11 million people every 10 years.

33 million - three times greater than the 1990 figure.

The closer you look at the Gang of Eight's Grand Sellout the more you can appreciate the profound changes that our already strapped society will face by adding so many more people to the population.

Especially if you or someone close to you are among the 22 million Americans who can't find full-time work.

Please stay tuned to NumbersUSA for more Schumer Surprises, including the news that illegal aliens will not be required to pay back taxes and that they will immediately be eligible for welfare benefits.

Isn't our government of the people just swell?
